What does is mean “place dough seam side up/down”?
I’m making bread for the first time and it advises to put the dough in a 6 to 8 quart pot with a lid..not a pan or baking sheet but a pot! does that make sense?
Seem side is formed when you make a ball of the dough after kneading. You tuck the edges under so that the top side is smooth and all the seems are gathered on the bottom. That’s the seem side. The idea for rising is that the bread needs to be covered and a deep narrow pan is best because you want the dough to rise up and not spread out too far.
