Pans with metal handles … Do they burn your hand?
I am wanting to buy a new set of pans. I noticed that many beautiful and expensive metal pans are very handles. See this link for example: I http://www.amazon.co.uk/Circulon-Infinite-Anodised-Cookware-Piece/dp/B0018S13MM/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&s=kitchen&qid=1240557236&sr=8-10 was under the impression that the metal is an excellent conductor of heat …. would not be pots as they burn your hands when you touch handle? I do not want to waste my money on something that is not practical. A big thank you,
Yes, someone bought my mother a series pans with metal handles. You must use a towel around them when you pick them up because they become very hot. If you hit them quickly by mistake, you're usually OK, but yes, they could burn you if you held for any length of time. It is still worse when you use two or three together on a baking sheet, because the handles usually end up near where the pots and you can not stop them getting hot, but if you have the space to push the handles away from the cooking area, then they are not quite as hot. I do not recommend them but they look beautiful.
