Is it really healthier to use Aluminum Cookware? What to use instead – cast iron?

Someone told me utensils aluminum can ultimately contribute to dementia. That sounds a bit exaggerated and I do not know if it's true (hopefully not because I have been using these tools Cooking since 1990 …) But if you go with an alternative, should be coated with Teflon? Old kitchen utensils fashioned cast iron? What (if any) would a healthier choice?

the old cast iron or steel pans would be best. I use coated tephon for frying, but hard things cold. I had a hard time trying to find the cookie cutters stainless steel, had to buy online. Http: / / hgic.clemson.edu/factsheets/HGIC3864.htm aluminum Aluminum cookware is in the air, water, soil, plants, animals, foods and household products. More than half of all cookware sold today is made of aluminum, usually coated with nonstick finishes or treated in some way to reinforce the structure and make it more resistant to scratches. No no evidence that aluminum causes Alzheimer's disease as once suggested by researchers. However, for those who wish to avoid exposure to aluminum, the best way would be to avoid antacids containing aluminum and use deodorants (which generally do not contain aluminum) rather than antiperspirants. over-the-counter medications Many contain aluminum. An antacid tablet can contain 50 milligrams of aluminum and one tablet of enteric-coated aspirin may contain 10 to 20 milligrams of aluminum. By Conversely, a person using uncoated Aluminum Pans for all food storage and cooking every day are taken in an estimated 3.5 milligrams of aluminum day. However, the storage of high acidic or salty foods such as tomato sauce, rhubarb or sauerkraut in aluminum pots may cause more aluminum than habit to get into the food and is not recommended. (These foods also cause pitting on the surface of the pot.) Cookware anodized aluminum anodization process hardens the surface of aluminum cookware making it stick, scratch resistant and easy to clean. Manufacturers claim that a final stage in the anodization process seals the aluminum, preventing leaching into food. This container does not react to acidic foods, so these Pots And Pans are better options for cooking rhubarb and sauces with tomato, wine and lemon juice. Cast Iron Cookware The classic of all time is strong, inexpensive, and an even heat conductor gold frying and baking. Cooking with cast iron also provides a source of an important nutrient. Foods cooked in unglazed cast iron may contain twice the amount of iron otherwise. Cast iron utensils should be treated differently from other utensils. To prevent oxidative damage, inside containers Cast iron should be coated frequently with unsalted cooking oil. Do not wash with strong detergents or scoured and should be dried immediately after washing. http://www.treehugger.com/files/2007/05/ask_treehugger_16.php aluminum cookware exhibitions, of which over half is aluminum, is not well studied but is believed to be a relatively minor source of aluminum exposure. Exposure to aluminum through food can occur when aluminum is filtered or otherwise dissolved from kitchen utensils in food. Leaching is more likely when food is cooked or stored are very basic (sodium bicarbonate) or very acidic (like tomatoes sauce, lemon juice, orange or vinegar). For example, the ketchup has been shown to contain 6.3 mg of aluminum (per 100 g serving) after cooking aluminum pots, which translates to about a tenth of the typical daily intake. This leaching of aluminum with acidic foods does not happen with aluminum cookware is anodized, or electro-chemically treated to seal the aluminum in cookware. Home Extension Clemson University and Garden Information Center tested different types of cuisine, and are Anodized Aluminum Cookware to be safe. In any case, it would probably be wise to store tomato sauce and other acidic foods in more than just an aluminum pot.
