Silicon is biodegradable?
If Silicone Baking pans and oven mitts biodegradable? Where can I find biodegradable silicone thin?
"Silicone" as used here is a very generic term. Compounds of silicon and other elements like oxygen carbon and fluorine are as varied as you can imagine. The term bio-degradable is not transparent. It can mean degraded by creatures such as algae or battery or simply by the "forces of nature" as the heat of the UV light, etc. Some pressure H2O silicone products are easy to decompose by the forces of nature I honestly do not know if any creatures eating but taking into account the fact that some bacteria can break down the PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls), a toxic mix of chemicals found in many soil and water samples would have to say that there are bacteria that can break some silicone products. hope that helps
