Can I use my Calphalon pot 6qt just like a Dutch oven to braise short ribs?

It is stainless steel with a solid base and a glass very tightly fitting lid, bake at 450 degrees F.

I would just go with what you have and not to worry. But to give you an idea of what the soldering technique really is, here you go. In general, it is a fairly shallow pot with a tight fitting lid to conserve heat, and lid made of tiny dots stick down like stalactites (or stalagmites is this?). What happens during braising is as water evaporates from the dishes and steam begins to accumulate on top of the lid. The small dots that water can flow down on food and keeping the top of your meat dish moist during cooking.
